Norberto Vargas, M.D.,PA, CMD

Dr. Vargas is a diplomat of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as The American Board of Addiction Medicine, and The American Board of Obesity Medicine. He is also a Medical Review Officer for the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Dr. Vargas graduated from the Ponce School of Medicine, Puerto Rico and completed his residency at Baylor University Medical Center of Dallas in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Vargas is the clinic’s Addiction specialist.

The methodology Dr. Vargas uses provides a comprehensive approach in the treatment of all of his patients. He performs electro-diagnostic testing, fluoroscopic-guided lumbar spinal injections to treat both acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries, and chronic pain management. He has successfully introduced the use of ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal injections to the practice, thus improving procedure outcomes while avoiding exposure risks of radiation. He also has trained in the field of prolotherapy for the treatment of painful ligament and tendon laxity.

Dr. Vargas’ areas of interest and expertise include addiction medicine for the prevention, intervention, and treatment of addiction associated with tobacco, prescription medications, and other drugs. Dr. Vargas is certified to treat opioid dependence with the use of Suboxone.

Karen was born in Bossier City, LA and grew up in DFW. She is a certified Practice Manager and has worked in medical field for the past 30 years, managing PM&R and Pain Management Practices.

Starting a new practice in 2012 with Drs. Norberto Vargas and JP Benavides in Paris, TX, Karen is currently the Director of Operations and EOS implementor of Paragon Health Partners.

Karen is proud to nurture a culture based on the core values of Help First, Accountability, Do the Right Thing, Protect What Matters, Positivity, and Continuous Improvement.

Karen’s certifications have included: Certified Practice Manager, Certified Medical Coder and Six Sigma Yellow Belt. She attends Strategic Coach Team leadership courses, Kolbe course, and is a member of the Female Integrator Mastermind (FIM). As a former Foster Parent and a CASA advocate for Tarrant County, Karen continues to be involved with issues involving the care and support of children. Her favorite quote is “If not now…when?”.

Dr. Benavides is a diplomat of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as The American Board of Sports Medicine, and The American Board of Pain Medicine.

Dr. Benavides DO attended the University of North Texas Science Center as well as the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated in 2001. Dr. Benavides completed his residency at Southwestern Medical Center in 2005.

The methodology Dr. Benavides uses provides a comprehensive approach in the treatment of all of his patients. He performs electro-diagnostic testing, fluoroscopic-guided lumbar, thoracic, and cervical spinal injections to treat both acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries, and chronic pain management. He has successfully introduced the use of ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal injections to the practice, thus improving procedure outcomes while avoiding exposure risks of radiation. He also has trained in PRP (Plasma Rich Platelet), performs Kyphoplasty, and Spinal Cord Stim placements.

Dr. Benavides’ areas of interest and expertise include interventional spine procedures, Sports Medicine, Pain Management. Dr. Benavides is certified to treat opioid dependence with the use of Suboxone. Dr. Benavides also is a RockDoc physician and treats performers in town at the local venues.
